Full-Time Exempt | Reports to Executive Director

Clery Center is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Senior Director of Strategic Engagement. Reporting to the Executive Director, Clery Center’s Senior Director of Strategic Engagement leads the expansion of Clery Center’s reach and impact through campaign development, campus and stakeholder engagement, and securing funding opportunities. This role supervises the Director of Communications and manages the organization's marketing efforts for all programmatic offerings including the membership program. The position has the possibility of being a fully remote role with occasional travel to the central office in Fort Washington, PA and to national conferences and trainings.

Founded in 1987, Clery Center for Security On Campus is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization working with college and university communities to create safer campuses. Clery Center is recognized as the national leader in campus safety issues, and is credited with transforming the face of campus safety through its policy, advocacy, and educational programs. 

Major Responsibilities

  • Build and manage partnerships with institutions of higher education, partner organizations, corporate affiliates, and other stakeholders
  • Secure corporate sponsorships and customized training opportunities
  • Develop a strategic marketing plan for Clery Center’s membership program
  • Oversee contract negotiations and agreements related to program delivery, membership, and sponsorships
  • Determine pricing for all fee for service opportunities as aligned with organizational mission and market value
  • Support Executive Director with fundraising and development projects
  • Supervise Director of Communications, overseeing website content, social media, e-communications, press releases, newsletters, and outreach to affiliates
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team in the development of the annual operational plan and in setting financial and programmatic goals
  • Attend national conferences and events to stay informed of current needs of the fieldand to build key relationships with stakeholders and campus professionals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) required
  • Commitment to Clery Center’s mission and organizational values of being mission-driven, collaborative, innovative, inclusive, and authentic
  • Champions a multidisciplinary and prevention based approach to public safety that centers identity and lived experiences of campus community members
  • 2+ years working in or with institutions of higher education
  • 5+ years of experience in a management level position, experience with nonprofits preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with marketing
  • Strong project management experience: ability to develop and manage project plans that include multiple stakeholder groups to achieve priorities and ensure that deliverables are on time and on budget
  • Customer service mindset: experience responding to and partnering with end users or stakeholders to solve challenges; high degree of empathy and ability to see many sides of the same issue
  • Strong written communications skills: Demonstrated ability to develop multi-pronged communications plans that are ambitious and achievable, and that both deepen public understanding/awareness about critical issues and promotes the organization
  • Strong verbal communication and influencing skills: Demonstrated ability to articulate Clery Center’s vision and strategy in a clear and compelling manner that translates into increased stakeholder engagement and support of Clery Center’s mission
  • Must be an independent, highly accountable, and driven self-starter
  • Commitment to building and nurturing an equitable and inclusive workplace that prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of all employees

Other Requirements

  • Ability to physically perform the duties listed above and work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in an office or workspace, use of a computer/laptop for several hours at a time, using a headset and making phone calls
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time to various locations across the United States as needed
  • Must have access to a private workspace, reliable phone service, and high-speed internet
  • All Clery Center employees are required to be fully vaccinated unless they have been granted an accommodation for a medical or religious reason

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: $75,000- $85,000 (commensurate with experience)

Health Insurance with employer contribution of 80% for employees, Dental Insurance with employer contribution of 100% for employees, Life Insurance, Retirement Plan (matching up to 3% of salary, following one year of employment), Generous Paid Time off (inclusive of vacation, sick, and personal time), Paid Family/Medical Leave (2 weeks), Remote Work.
