Part-Time | Reports to Director of Communications

Clery Center seeks an intern to support their communications strategy, with a primary focus on social media.

About Clery Center

Founded in 1987, Clery Center for Security On Campus is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization working with college and university communities to create safer campuses. Clery Center is recognized as the national leader in campus safety issues, and is credited with transforming the face of campus safety through its policy, advocacy, and educational programs. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Increase awareness of Clery Center and the Clery Act
  • Create content for Clery Center’s website and social media presence
  • Engage Clery Center stakeholders through social media platforms
  • Research articles, stories, resources and other content relevant to Clery Center’s mission
  • Write clear and engaging blog posts to communicate key data, trends, outcomes, and messages from Clery Center
  • Maintain and promote organizational brand
  • Conduct research, compile media clips, and provide summary reports
  • Assist staff with other projects and programs, as needed

Qualifications

  • Interest in Clery Center’s mission of creating safer campuses
  • Experience or interest in communications & marketing
  • Availability to work remotely 5-10 hours per week (you’ll need a computer equipped with a web cam (for virtual meetings) and a reliable internet connection)
  • Knowledge of how to effectively use social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong sense of professionalism and excellent customer service skills

Compensation

A stipend between $1,500-$2,000, depending on determined schedule and timeline of internship. A schedule will be discussed and agreed upon between the intern and the supervisor. This position also provides an opportunity for possible academic credit. The internship length and structure can be tailored to fit program requirements pending discussion with the internship supervisor and approval from the institution the student is enrolled.
