Description:

Our Virtual Clery Act Training Seminar (VCATS) combines live, online instruction with interactive elements to deliver Clery Center’s most comprehensive training without the need for travel. Over four live sessions, participants engage in real-time discussions, breakout groups, case study analysis, and online resources.

You’ll network with peers, consult directly with instructors (during live sessions and privately during virtual office hours), and apply what you learn through interactive activities. A provided Workbook helps you document strategies and checklists to carry forward in your daily work.

Interactive, engaging, and practical, CATS equips participants with the tools and strategies to strengthen compliance practices back on campus. VCATS will teach participants about:

  • Stop Campus Hazing Act requirements including:
    • Counting & classifying hazing as a Clery Act crime statistic
    • Developing policies and procedures for reporting and investigating hazing incidents and offering prevention programs to educate about and prevent the occurrence of hazing
    • Creating a Campus Hazing Transparency Report (CHTR) sharing information about recognized student organizations found responsible for hazing
  • Identifying and training campus security authorities (CSAs)
  • Identifying Clery geography
  • Counting & classifying Clery Act crimes
  • Composing an institution’s annual security report (ASR)
  • Designing & implementing prevention and response efforts for dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS)
  • Conducting campus disciplinary procedures for student or employee cases of DVSAS that also address Title IX requirements
  • Evaluating the need for and issuing timely warnings or emergency notifications
  • Developing, revising, or implementing policy and procedures to address any of the above

While anyone with an interest or desire in learning more about the totality of the Clery Act is welcome at all Clery Center trainings, our CATS curriculum is specifically designed for those with responsibility for oversight of Clery Act compliance and/or implementing its requirements.

CATS is available in three modalities: in-person, virtual, and self-paced. Learn more at clerycenter.org/cats.
